Sani Pass

Sani Pass

2 Days / 1 Night

Day 1:

Your adventure begins at 9:00 AM in Underberg at the Grind Cafe, where we’ll gather before embarking on an unforgettable journey. If you’re staying nearby, we may be able to pick you up from your accommodation—just let us know when booking, and we’ll confirm if it will be possible, either complimentary or with an additional fee for locations outside our range.

We’ll set off on a thrilling 2.5-hour drive up the legendary Sani Pass, ascending to a breathtaking 2,874 meters above sea level. Along the way, we’ll stop at spectacular viewpoints and navigate through two border posts (the Southern African border at the base and the Lesotho border at the summit), offering ample opportunities to capture the stunning scenery and soak in the dramatic landscape.

Upon reaching the summit, you’ll be welcomed into the heart of Lesotho’s culture with a visit to a local Basotho home. This cultural immersion will give you a deeper understanding of the traditions and history of this resilient mountain community. Following this enriching experience, we’ll head to Sani Mountain Lodge, where you can enjoy lunch (at your own cost) at the highest pub in Africa.

For your overnight stay, you’ll enjoy the comfort and privacy of a well-appointed suite of your choice at Sani Mountain Lodge. Dinner and breakfast are included, ensuring a restful and rejuvenating experience. If you’re in the mood for more exploration, the afternoon or the next morning offers opportunities for horseback riding or guided mountain walks (at your own cost)—simply let the Sani Mountain Lodge team know, and they’ll arrange any additional activities for you.

Day 2:

After a relaxing morning, we’ll meet you back at Sani Mountain Lodge around 1:30 PM. After enjoying lunch (at your own cost), we’ll embark on a scenic descent down the famous Sani Pass, returning to Underberg by approximately 3:30 PM. This slightly more upmarket overnight experience is designed to offer a perfect blend of comfort, adventure, and cultural immersion, leaving you with memories of a truly exceptional experience.

Let us know if you are needing a transfer from Durban and we’ll be happy to provide you with a personalized quote from one of our trusted third party transfer services.
